Woman-Talk- Man Talk- Lisa and Jodi

Contributed by lnnie on Friday, 6th February 2009 @ 01:27:09 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

'Why do I'
she said
always have to carry the torch
be the one who illuminates
while you bask
in the hidden shadows
making no effort;
the one dog
on the dog
sled team
not really pulling?

Why do I have to answer the phone,
talk to the neighbors
organize the birthday parties
talk to the in-laws
and then get all dressed up
after cooking dinner
and make you feel wanted?

Why do I have to do the dishes
dress the kids
empty the trash
while you watch the ball game
You're right he said,

Why do I have to be the one
to always tell you I'm right
and you never have to discover
that out yourself?
You're right he said.
'Are you mocking me'
'No, ' he said
'that would be wrong'
'You're right.'

'Talk to me' she said.

'Well, ' he said 'this is how it feels to me.
I come home and while I'm working
you have stolen the kids.
I know you work too
but you tell them that if they
do wrong when I come home
I will discipline them.
So they don't have any real feel
for me
except that you can protect them
from me
if you keep their wrong doing from me.

If I am to close to the girls you get jealous
and tell me to empty the trash.

If I really do the dishes and take over
the household with that teenager
we talked about coming in to help-
you oppose.

I'm not to be Household King
but House hold Helper.

If I talk to the in-laws I find out that you
have sabotaged
having told them that behind closed doors
you are suffering
and they think I am mean.

You talk to them more than you talk to me.
If I watch a game
it is a man thing
but if you do lunch with the girls
I'm told I am jealous of girl things.

If I am strong in standing up for my self
I am a chauvinistic;
if you do
you are Warrior Woman.

If I can't sit for hours on the phone
you can
and say I am anti-social.

All the things you do now
and hate
you want me to do
and I think
you would like to see me
in an apron.

And by the way,
sometimes I like to
see you put me before
your friends, the dog
the kids and your mother.
I am in fifth place.

'So 'she said
'is this all there is
to our relationship? '

'No, ' he said I have been meaning
to talk to you about the sex.
You seem to think that most men
are bad in bed
but a woman can't be
bad in bed'

Flash bulletin
that is not true.

So she said
is that all?
No he said
I love you.
And she said
'I love you too.'
Neither
was bad
that night.

This touched me, and gave me a smile inside... in two ways. First I was thinking about the arguing and about how true that can often be, even though most people are led to belive otherwise. Second, I was taken entirely off guard when HE said 'I love you.'. That was probably the last thing I expected, and from him! Good job, and keep up the good work =).
