The Patriot

Contributed by Nina on Saturday, 22nd March 2003 @ 10:25:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Tributes

For the sake of this mighty nation, I am standing tall and proud,
I am girded for the battle, I profess I will not fall.
The Lord's equipped this soldier, His great shield of faith I hold,
I'm empowered by His Spirit, I'm a victor by His Word.
I will fight to keep our freedom, I will die for this great land,
The words of our founding fathers holds a promise that will stand.
I will protect and defend this country, our President insures,
"We will accept no other outcome but victory this war."
"One nation under God," that's us, this fact we'll not debate,
"In God We Trust," our money's stamped, one true United States.
We cannot wave "Old Liberty" if our nations in unrest,
The flag will not divide itself, Even if some do protest.
In union it's been written, The Constitution states,
We'll provide for the common defense, establish justice for every race.
Us soldiers, with pride, left our homes, our lives, our country to fight this war,
We suffer and we sacrifice, until this nation is secured.
We will wave our victory banner, though it may be stained with blood,
From the wounds and losses we suffered, we won't cease 'till it's all done.
Our God is standing sentry, He's at the battle lines,
I pray for His protection, I pray He spares our lives.
I say a prayer for those back home, I hope that they will pray,
"God bless our soldiers overseas, God bless the U.S.A."

Terrific poem. You have it right! I applaud your patriotism and support of our brave and marvelous men and women in our armed foreces. We are liberators not conquerors. May the War be ended swiftly and our victory assured. God Bless you and all our troops.
