Hiding behind this smile
I've been doing it for quite a while.
My heart, it hurts and aches
It bends and bends but never breaks.
I dream of you and beg you not to leave.
But then I awake and can barely breath.
I know that you're gone.
I know your life is done.
I know I can't have you back.
I wonder if it's love I lack.
I know I'm selfish to wish for you.
But now reality is ringing true.
The truth is now unbreakable.
Your memory seems to be untraceable.
I need to forget.
I need to let you go.
Sometimes I wish we never met
But how can I hope for such a blow.
I hide behind my smile
I remember you and it doesn't last.
The smile from where I'm hiding fades too fast.
I wonder if I'll ever get through this trial
If I'll always have to hide behind this smile.
