anguished

Last night, when it was snowing,
I went out (as we'd have done)
To have dinner at Maxine's...
Just down the road.
And Sally Anne, the waitress
That we've known so many years,
Tried to smile, but in her eyes...
The sadness showed.

I get it & like it but again it lacks an edge. I've found short works are the hardest as the impact to borrow from Kafka must strike like an axe blow. Thank you I.B. |
