WHAT DO YOU SEE

Sometimes when you think I don't see,
You just sit and stare at me,
What do you have on your mind,
And just what do you expect or want to find.
No I am not that thin young girl,
That years ago you brought into your world,
My hair is just about all gray,
And my body certainly has changed in every way.
Just talk to me of all your thoughts,
And I will listen about these faults,
But I want you to also know,
You are not the same as years ago.
We raised a family of which we are pleased
Then came the grandchildren for us to tease,
But as the children left one at a time,
Gone was the common things that kept us in line.
Alone now it's just you and me,
Sometimes I feel we don't really see,
Each other as an individual,
Let's just love as our life continues.
Remember to talk of what you see,
And what you think I should be,
No promise I make to change what I do,
I am my own person and so are you.
