If I Could Only Drive Forever

Contributed by yackerz85 on Sunday, 11th January 2009 @ 10:53:19 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

I have been sitting here too long
I gotta get out. I gotta get out
I have got fun plans ahead
I gotta go play and seize the day
I can’t stay at home
I need to get out go out and about
I can’t keep talking on the phone
I need to see you. I can’t wait to see you
And my legs shake and my hand twitches
My mind sputters, my brain hitches
I know there is something better out there
And while staying put, I’m burning inside
This overwhelming frustration I can’t hide
Just let me out. I need to get some air.

The fun places I go to draw me in
Time to have fun and see everyone
The simple pleasures I obtain from joking around
Nothing better to do. Nothing better to do.
But as time elapses I begin to relapse
And I begin to feel a pull inside my heart
I can’t stay here anymore tonight
There’s somewhere better for me
I can feel it inside
But where do I go? Where do I go?
I get in my car but I have no idea.
Should I go home? Should I go home?
I would but home is just not any better
So I just drive speeding in the night
My music is so loud, with the bass blaring
My hands beat the dashboard
My head bobs in beat
And I sing my lungs out
I feel so complete
If I could only drive forever,
Perhaps my life would be angst-free

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
