Little Brother

Contributed by kiss4roq on Sunday, 11th January 2009 @ 01:27:46 PM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

We've grown slowly apart,
but you've always been in my heart.
From a distance, I’ve watched you grow,
Wondering about the man I'd get to know.
Who you’d become and who you’d be,
is now becoming clear to me.

Bad choices you've made all together,
but I have faith in you little brother.
So many things going on around you,
I'm sorry that they drug you in too.
But when really put to the test,
I know you’ll out shine the rest.

Walk with your head held high,
don’t worry, everyone will learn why.
You can do whatever you put your mind to,
And I’ll do whatever I can to help you.

We all know you have the gift, so use it wisely.
Deep down, you’re a good kid; don’t disappoint me.
It's in your heart, your soul, and your mind,
keep looking; you never know what you’ll find.

I know you’ll find it; you’ll make us proud,
and hold on to it, failure is not aloud.
I know you'll be just fine, this I don't worry.
Just try not to grow up in such a hurry.

You’re going to be somebody, this I already know.
But there's a lot to learn; what you have will help you grow.
Keep your eyes open; don't let anything pass you by.
Your great and can grow greater, all you have to do is try.

I love you Kristopher, from day one.
I hope you can learn from what you’ve done.
Everyone makes mistakes, and from them we learn.
Now it’s your turn,
And I know you’ll learn from yours as well.
You’re doing fine, as far as I can tell,
And you’ll be whoever you want to be,
But remember that only you hold the key.

I was touched by your poem. It was a good read by the way. I buried my little brother a few weeks ago, the day after Christmas, so cherish yours. You never know how long you will have him. Good poem.
