A chill in the air this morning,
seems I remember Spartan this time of year a bit warmer.
Hot cup of jo, pull the sweater on
a morning potty walk round the truck n stop with Leshay.
Out for but a second, I hear a voice,
"mam you want those wheels shines all purdy"?
In my head I said oh yes it needs it,
yet knowing…. I had to say, "sorry my man not today."
He said I’ll go chat at your man a bit,
I said that is fine, I went my way with Leshay
he went to chat with Gary a bit.
I felt sad at that moment, he like us truckers
sitting at this truck N stop is out making a living.
Cept the pennies are tight for us truckers
makes em tight for Mr Polish man.
It gets to this tender heart to so no.
In these days when times are so hard.
Yet the word no is coming a bit more regular.
It still causes me to miss a beat in this heart.
We have always been the ones to toss food out a window.
Or run into a burger joint and hand some one a bag.
More than one occasion empty our pockets,
a cup of coffee, bottle of water or a smoke…..
We know cutting back, not only in our life but with others.
Has been just becoming the fact, with us,
with all other truckers, with all we know.
Fact is fact it is against my thoughts to tell another person no.
So for now a hug, some chatter a joke or two.
A tap on the arm with a God Bless you man, (or woman)
is the best I can do for the moment.
It aches in my heart and soul.
Best of wishes, so sorry ,not today Mr. Polish man.

Hiya hunni.
This is such a heart tugging piece. And is so reflective of the world right now.
So much uncertainty.
I've missed you and your poetry sweets. Now that the holidays are over, maybe
I can get back to a more relaxed kind of pace. :)
Good to be reading you again.
*huge hugs*

Awhhhh shel,
this is a very powerful, tender, wise on-n-on write.
You have a heart of gold, girl.
I'm really proud of ya.
big smiles, huggs, blessings,
