Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Contributed by Jayne49 on Thursday, 8th January 2009 @ 04:17:19 PM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

Let sleeping dogs lie
don’t try
to hit
for it
isn’t a wise thing to do.

They’ll bite
with delight
even when
they comprehend
just what they’re biting into.

Take heed
and concede
I know
it is so
I’ve been bitten a time or two

Let them doze
in repose
or they’ll snap
like a trap
and grab a piece of you.

I enjoy the rhyme scheme, but the ideas conveyed in each stanza seem repetitive. There doesn't seem to be anything new communicated with each one.

Try and tell the story, and remember, just because it's a poem, doesn't mean you have to find words that rhyme.
