i looked

Contributed by sidra on Monday, 5th January 2009 @ 02:23:32 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

looked for you this morning,
I looked for you last night,
I looked for you everywhere,
But you were not in sight.
I looked up to the night sky above,
And saw your face in the stars.
It was then I realized,
You’re not here anymore
But you’ll always be with me…..
You will always be in my heart.
Life is something all of us must borrow
Returning it in time, to whence it came.
Good-bye doesn’t mean you’re gone,
So long as I still love you,
Your memory will live on.

it is obvious to even the most casual reader that you have suffered a great loss. Your poem reflects that and is beautiful. The second half of the poem I really thought was wonderful, although a few lines in the first half seemed to stick with me too. It is difficult to deal with, and trust me I know. I lost my little brother on Christmas Eve just past. I have a friend who posts poems on here, her name is Little_genna. She wrote a poem about losing a stepfather under very different circumstances. It was called "To the man I never thought would leave." I went back and read her poem and compared it to yours. It was an interesting comparison. Time heals all wounds is not just a quote, it really does. Bless you.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
