Standing in front of a mirror
With glazed eyes I look upon myself
Such disdain
Scars that cover my skin
Scars that cover a past
A dark past
One filled with anguish
And so I think about it
Opening my veins
So immoral yet satisfying
Stuck in between
Temptation strikes
Can’t help but to satisfy my urge
My urge for release
I submit to it
As the blade pierces my skin
And the blood colours my arm red
It trickles down my arm
With it the pain that filled me
Washed away
Some sort of solace
At least for now

Pain is a fickle, destructive friend. In time, many will seek its temporary physical embodiment. However, I hope you find the strength to overcome this easy route and address the emotional through emotional pathways.
As for the work itself - very detailed and expressive. Excellent. |

A most excellent exposition on the compulsion to self harm, and the short term benefits of doing so. Well done.
