Canyon Whispers

Contributed by Spike on Tuesday, 30th December 2008 @ 07:22:05 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

Morning on the south rim;
pinks and reddish hues
variegate the pancaked rock,
while clouds drift like zeppelins
over cliffs ands plains.
the distant Colorado river, a green trickle
snaking its way to exhaustion.

This place is scarred, worn down
by long insinuations of wind and water
the time scale, enormous,
overwhelming to comprehend.

I feel trepidation of ancient forces
as I shiver in the morning air;
the dangerous allure of height.
humbled by vastness, the utter stillness,
I close my eyes for relief
and listen to the
hum of destiny.

The wind whistles here
rumbles there
cries and moans
echoes of laughter
talks to itself and others
instrument and chorus, atonal

I Am that I Am
before you and when you are gone

I listen, rapt, to the voices
of the great stony shell,
while the red hawk sites its prey
and cries the new dawn.

It indeed is awesome and very inspiring.
Great write.
I've been where evil Kanival jumped.
I have no clue why he'd attempt such thing.
Guess that's just who he was.
Huggs, smiles, blessing, Happy New Year,
emy

You have definitely captured the serenity and awesome vastness of the Grand Canyon with your very vivid poem.

Very nicely done and I am glad that you enjoyed one of the great splendors of the ol' U.S.

Take care,

Tim
