Father's Day Warning

Contributed by norm on Saturday, 22nd March 2003 @ 01:45:00 AM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

It's as easy as A. B. C.
to be a dad's like 1,2,3.
The problems start from that point on,
and who can see what lies beyond.

The mamas say the pain was great,
on Mother's day they celebrate.
They tell each other of their feats
while babies suckle at their teats.

'Tween you and me, they may be right
but being dad is still a fight.
You are the guy who brings the 'green'
that lubricates the dream machine.

If not enough, they're sure to huff;
then part time jobs and all that stuff.
Suddenly the kids grow tall,
it happens fast from spring thru fall.

You're now the critic of their deeds,
with kiddies growing up like weeds.
They look to you for leadership,
you dare not falter, dare not trip.

For if you do there's hell to pay,
then on and on you'll rue the day.
I will not sermonize, that's true,
but sure enough you'll pay what's due.

Be careful where you trod the path,
or strike you sure is someone's wrath.
Thus having said my dire say
I wish you son, good Father's Day.

No 3 of 10 (It got a bit late last night and I got tired. Starting fresh this morning)

Norm I'm enjoying this
another "cracking read"
a most important warning
a mandatory heed

You've said it all
but that's your way
you don't waste words
just have your say
