Not too long ago, there was a lad
Far in the fields of nowhere
Every day he left, black-clad
My dear, his name was Riley Nash
Riley Nash didn't give one care
Each day he sat next to the old ash
Knowing but ignoring those stares
As he sat and talked to his love
Though to you it may seem quite rash,
He wouldn't dare to leave his dove
Nothing could deter him from that ash
The tree which marked where he met her
Long ago Nash first met his love
Whichever story you prefer,
No matter which you are fond of -
His love died many years ago
A story with an ending so sad
"She's not dead!" you could hear him swear -
He who lost her I say is mad,
And dear, his name was Riley Nash.
