Walking tonight
in the soft pitter-patter
post-drizzle-rain,
I am pondering again,
for the first time,
the mystery of us...
...and not only of us,
but of all of it...the strangeness,
the nuttiness of it all.
I’m glad for these misty showers, they
hide my lonely tears...
warm tears, against my cheeks,
turned softly cold by the autumn winds.
These winds are as old,
as ancient as the earth itself,
when Adonai divided the seas
and tore the skies asunder...
...and their fingers, criss-crossing
our undeniably connected globe
carry still the forgotten echoes
of yesteryear’s wisdom,
spoken by the holy mouths
of holy men
...and women.
My own teachers, many holy
and others...not so,
lie buried in the gold dust
of my own forgotten past...
my guru in the thunderstorm,
the humble shepherd man, and
gentle Peace, who will only whisper
sweetly in my ear, words of ancient wisdom
so soft I cannot hear, sans what bit
my spirit, by pure grace, should catch...
...and yet, even as I put all of this together
I see that the puzzle is, really,
still one great big mess.
But surely truth is coming “soon”,
surely truth will come...
...in the rain, in the storm...
thunder crash!
lightning flash!
...come, truth, come...
...Humble Shepherd....
...Aries Ram...
...A lone pink rose...
...wandering lamb...
...and tiny toes...
...oh, come, truth, come!...
and come, you misty rain,
falling like a veil, o’er land and sea...
...come, and know me once again,
know me now for what I am:
I am a mouse,
and not a man...
and truth is veiled from me.

Excellent introspective poetry, with a resonance in the heart like pealing thunder. That damn message remains elusive to me as well ( and about 2 billion others), except for those excruciating glimpses when you are not looking.
