I know you’re going to be there tonight,
I think I like you more than my mates know,
I pull on my shirt, it’s your favourite
Colour, purple. I’m excited, nervous.
We head out queue for ages, pay a bomb,
I know its money well spent, the bar calls.
I order Dutch courage, one tequila,
Two tequila, three tequila, Floor! The
Dance floor! You’re there! Dancing… with some tall bloke…
Suddenly I’m blind to everything
Bar your hips grinding into him. Sick, numb,
My eyes force me to stare at you sucking
Face with Mr Tall. I always thought you
Were out of my league. Now I know for sure…

Very unusual subject matter for ye olde sonnet. I liked it. |
