Can it be said that a friend you've been,

If all your friends are but words on a screen?

If yur BFF livs in CT,

Can U know her well by txt?

Ppl just cant liv w/o

Txting friends they kind of know.

"How R U?" "im aiight, and U2?"

"Just chillin', not a hole lot 2 do."

"I gtg, I hear my mom yell."

"I'll cya later--ttyl."

Why do we cease to communicate

Through things that have made speaking so great?

Idk.

I can't say.

something a little different, a refreshing read. i too am not a big fan of dodgy grammar or cell phones. i think they reduce our wonderful language to something that is lazy and quick. that's not the purpose of language, it's meant to express feelings and concepts in a meaningful way. but then again i'm a purist and i see language as more than just a method of commuication, it's an expression of who i am.

Oh my...
Well, the little girls on here will be upset with you, but I couldn't agree more. The English language cringes in the face of modern technology and this little piece is a fine reminder to the rest of us. I applaud you for pointing out what should be obvious. A brilliant and lovely write.

Be well,
Loende

Very true. The scariest thing to me is to see people that value the English language or that I know are perfectly well educated using text speak. I have friends that I know are smarter than that, but someone it creeps through.

I text myself but never use the text abbreviations or forget the apostrophe. You probably used it here just out of habit because the true blue bad spellers don't even know the apostrophe exists...as though it's dead.

I agree with this a lot. Nicely done.

Tim
