The Cross

Contributed by navydocny on Friday, 19th December 2008 @ 04:15:35 AM in AEST
Topic: DreamsandWishes

By my town is a cross on a hill
To think of it now, makes my heart be still
Lit at night, it shines so true
Yes another thing that reminds me of you
I see a girl riding by, in the back of a car
Long time ago and so very far
She gazes upon its very glare
Wondering where her love can be out there
This time of year again and again
The story always plays out in my brain
There was a time that I was your one
The one who’d be your shining sun
Now years after where we’ve been
What do you think of if you see it when
Driving by on a starry night
Its divine sparkle by electric light
Do your thoughts return to that little girl’s dream?
Of where is your love, and what life’s scheme
Do you look upon it with little girl’s eyes
And wonder if it’s all worth a grand revise
At least you should know when it’s there that you stare
There’s a love for you that is always foursquare

Steve, this is exquisite. Absolutely breathtaking. If I close my eyes, I can almost see that cross on a hill. May this be your beacon and keep you strong.

Be well,
~dawn
