I no longer believe it will work.
Beneith the good intentions a gap does lurk.
I thought I could overcome anything,
I could deal with what ever she may bring.
One long painful year has passed.
At the end of it I think it will not last.
Whatever she says, I believe not a word.
Her protestions of affection go unheard.
I am tired of the effort, tired of the fight.
Back to England this bird must take flight.
I know it will be hard, I will miss her at first,
but life with her is killing my soul, it is the worst.
I believed we could make a life for her here,
now I have to fight myself to even have her near.
To many times our goodwill, our embrace,
were met with lies, backstabbing, a spit in the face.
I struggled so long for a name, me to define,
looked for a word or phrase for it a name to consign.
To make it all work, I brought all my skills.
Now I have a name, it is, "just the guy that pays the bills".

| It has a very strong ending, and seems to flow nicely, with good balance in the simplicity and length of the phrases/sentences you use. I liked it =). |
