I am only human

Contributed by Loende on Wednesday, 17th December 2008 @ 08:55:31 PM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

I am only human, as if you really care.
You just want to hurt me, so much more than I can bear.
You expect me to better than I really am,
and then you’re shocked when I am not,
so the pain it comes again.

I am only human, as if it makes a difference,
You just want to blame me and the truth ‘s of no importance.
You depend on my forgiveness, expect it to be yours
and then you’re drawn back to my side,
so the lies begin again.

I am only human, as flawed as I can be.
You just want to own me, but not so that they’ll see.
You expect me to accept this and not to speak my mind,
and then you’re shocked when I speak out,
so you disappear again.

I am only human, as if you’ve even checked
You just want to come and go, and give me no respect.
You depend on my emotions to make things go your way,
but you’ll be shocked when I’m not there,
so here we go again.

Wow, the reader can really feel the anger in this one. I can soooo relate and have been there a time or twelve. I like the poem and you have captured the moment...the emotion...but you absolutely do not deserve whatever this is that's happening to you. Well, I am of course assuming it's based on your anger and something that's happening to you. I have seen your forum posts and comments. You do not deserve this. Unfortunately, there are people like that in this world. I hope things get better for you.

Tim

another superb write, dawn. you've pointed out our failures as a species. we need each other, but are really waiting for the first opportunity to stab each other in the back, and run away. 'sigh'. i wonder what it's like being a racoon? i'm sure its an easier life.

I couldn't have said how I feel better than phil did. It is, especially in the world we live in, so true. Often it has happened to me. I trust someone, they back-stab me (figuratively), I shun them, and then they come back so they can do it all over again. This really embodies the nature of our society sometimes. Great job =).

It's stuff like this that really puts today's social society in perspective. It's like survival of the fittest has evolved. Emotional pain is just as scarring as physical pain.

This is an excellent poem. I can relate but mostly its because i feel that people will only like me if I am perfect which I will never be. Great poem!

I loved the way you weaved this piece.
What about people like me who are part animal?
