In WAR we trust

Contributed by fortunesdancer on Wednesday, 17th December 2008 @ 01:20:07 PM in AEST
Topic: political

The harrowing screams
Of a twisted dream
The burst of flames
Let out by passing planes
Now illuminated by a flare
You’ll take a step if you dare
You run in fear
Hunted like a deer
You run to flee
But you can no longer see
Blinded by heat in a haze
You turn you gaze
You line up your shot
You aim with your dot
And within this sin of war
Within the din of dawn
You hesitate
Your body frozen broken by a bullet
An eerie silence falls over you in the dark
You fall on the open plain
And writhe in pain
Without any gain
You howl for help in vain
Your heartbeat slows
The pain goes
You are met by cold
You stutter your cries
You shutter your eyes
You struggle for breath
And in embrace death
And fall into a husky twilight
Of the night
And as the horizon lingers over the land
Your body rests among the sand
No medals
No memoirs on who you were
Or why you died
The forgotten soldier
Whose unit tried?
But sadly died
Just left beside
