a suicide note

Contributed by lostforgood on Friday, 21st March 2003 @ 03:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

Cloudy days,
Rainy haze.
Hollow gaze,
Stubborn ways.

Death is the thing I fear,
And my cries are the only thing I hear.
My life used to be so dear,
But now I fall apart with every tear.

How did this happen to me,
I really wish I could see,
The reason that I must be,
Kept from being free.

Things are getting hard though,
So I think that I am going to go.
I’m getting tired of all these lows,
Please, understand it’s what I’ve chose.

I’m getting ready to say goodbye,
It is almost time for me to fly.
It’s going to be scary for me to die,
But at least my soul will soar real high.

On my desk I lay the pills,
Wondering how these things can kill.
But I understand that all these will,
Take me past that one last hill.

Next I take out my knife,
And think of how this will take my life.
Now’s the time I begin to write,
Leave this letter, I just might.

“Goodbye, farewell, I love you all, don’t be sad or fear at all. I will be happy where I’m going; and I promise that it’s not your fault. Remember to keep on smiling, and hold your heads up high; let your souls begin to fly.”

I set this down with such care,
As I sit here crying whilst I stare.
I never thought I would even dare,
To take my life… it’s so unfair.

But it’s much too late,
There’s no time to debate.
Today is the date,
That I will no longer wait.

Slice goes the knife,
Down go the pills,
Here come the tears,
Along with the fears.

I have felt this way in my life more often than I'd care to admit. I never wanted it bad enough I guess because I am still here. I have learned over the years that the Lord really won't give you more than you can handle though, and I believe that which does not break you only makes you stronger. Keep your head up - when you are down so low there can only be brighter days ahead. *smile* I like your poem and wish you the best. Thanks for sharing.

Out of all of your poems I love this one the most. It is true and pure feeling, the kind I try to capture in my poems. Keep up the excellent writing
