A Distant Cry

Contributed by tswilkins on Monday, 8th December 2008 @ 04:17:59 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I am but a distant cry
That fades into the wind
And turns into a silent soul
With sorrow trapped within.

My story's kept within myself.
My pain, I cannot tell
And those who think they know me best
Still don't know me well.

My thoughts are like a stranger's face--
Just passing by unknown.
I keep them in a secret place
But there, they feel alone...

My mind is just a hollow pit
That does not see the light,
And in a corner filled with pain
I hurt. I cry. I write.

I stumble in this darkened hole.
I tremble and I crawl.
I try to stand just one more time.
I give up and I fall.

I whisper through my tearful voice
In anguish and despair--
What some would call a lonely wish.
It feels more like a prayer.

If only I could scream out loud.
If only this would end,
Perhaps someone will hear my soul
Through a desperate poet's pen.

You'll never understand my cry
You'll never know my pain
If I do not take this pen and try
To tell you what remains

Of a heart that has a crippled beat
That staggers down life's road
Trying to live within this world
A weak and limping soul.

What remains is just a fragment
Of hope in fragile state,
Hanging tightly by a thread
To a mustard seed of faith.

Walking calmly in this world,
I live each granted day
A silent, unknown, lowly soul--
A distant cry away.

I think if anyone reads this, they just did!!!

Such a natural flow you have going on here and great expression. I think a lot of us can relate to this. We all hold things inside but, ah, isn't poetry a wonderful release?

Beautifully written but 'tis sad. It does however seem to be a good start to a freeing journey.

Thank you for a great read.

Tim
