The Silent Ranks

Contributed by PhantomsLDY on Tuesday, 30th July 2002 @ 09:16:22 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

I wear no uniform, no blues, nor Army green
but I am in the military, in those ranks rarely seen.
I have no rank on my collar and salutes I don't get.
but i'll always be there no matter how hard it gets.

I'm not the one who fires the weapon or who puts my life on the line.
But my job is just as tough, I'm the one who's left behind
My husband is a patriot, a brave and prideful man
the call to serve his country, not all can understand.

Here in the rear his children I will protect
until he is once again home and togeter we can rest.
Everyday I will look to the horizon in hopes to see his plane,
bringing home my husband or at least his remains.

Behind the lines I see his country and how it's kept free.
Thank you to the soldiers that figt for you and me.
I love the man I married, soldiering is his life.
I stand among the silent ranks, otherwise known as the militar wife.
