Captivated

Contributed by elle on Thursday, 27th November 2008 @ 10:33:27 PM in AEST
Topic: surreal

I feel so captivated. . .
a knot is forming in my throat.
Another murmured sound escapes me,
entering life as more word noise
around the hub. . .
What is it that I utter. . .
just spoke out loud
enough to say?
By what stroke do I expose. . .
climb the precipice, risk the fray?
My attempts are feeble gatherings.
We have met many times before.
Until a truce becomes a trust,
every need remains a want. . .
but what is need. . .
or sanctuary. . . obscure. . .
for the most part, I don't know.
Along my insides
air is scraping lung,
my breath escaping so.
My need has me fitful, so I am bending,
regulating status quo.
Coagulation & oblivion, disguised. . .
are both my foe.
I am distracted by each semblance,
but by my presence, I start again.
Distracted by this sequence
to myself, to my own end
& so my witness stays
calculated, colored washed & envious
of kind endeavors, pallor tricks
& other eloquent misfits. . .
our words floating as if petals
tooks their forms. . . bade farewell
& formed again. . .
absorbed into the cobwebs
that hang like severed thoughts
from weak synapses. . . draped & veiled.
A skilled reveal.
We, not yet filled to overfilling,
are graduating,
becoming something else,
becoming. . .
rare.
There is an opposite,
of course, an appetite.
Mirrored lack. . .
bars everywhere.
I feel whiplash from new arrivals,
wayward thoughts &
mindless chatter. . .
inner dialogue warfare
creates a sadness unto sickness.
I'm too sick to even share.
I'm weighted down
heavy like thunder.
I want to move this
to be aware. . .
but it is big & round & hungry
& yes
I'm sure it's there. . .
like a seed dropped off
& waiting. . .
quiet persuasion
to touch the air. . .
air of energy &
breath of guidance. . .
a quiet moment without dispair.
I am not frightened,
being here without you.
I know I'll reach you
as you are coming
across the dunes. . .
the sands of time,
between the swells
our thoughts are falling
seeping like shadows,
creeping as vines.
My cowardice challenges our journey,
my hope & tolerance, as well.
Allegiance formed is but an alibi
so we can love another
& patent a way to care.
I would forsake this temporal moment,
in an instant
just to recognize you in your true self. . .
like a slow & gentle turning
in the garden. . . Eden fair.
Yet this silhouette, it is a puzzle,
very powerful, exacting. . .
complicated beyond compare.
The unfinished obelisk.
The path of those who dare.
Please. . .
Do not abandon me.
The secret, not yet clear.
I am a force
& yet I'm nothing.
let me seek. . .
let me free myself to care.
