By day by night

Contributed by shelby on Wednesday, 26th November 2008 @ 06:51:38 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

With the sun comes a new day.
Gathering all up within her rays.
She spreads her warmth
shimmering through the lone pine
and all the world is soft, sublime.

Day half spent another town long gone.
Another city we will awake to the next dawn.
The night shall come soon.
With the shadows life will change
from day to night it will rearrange.

With the dark you will see her there.
A pretty woman without a care.
Though her job isn't so pretty.
You watch with eyes peering into the dark.
Seeing and knowing her plight carries no spark.

Then as a woman it really sinks in.
The life and the mess this other woman is really living within.
I catch a glimpse of her eyes as she passes
and in that moment you see her true sadness.
Lady of the night walks off once more.

WOW!

Michelle, first your opening stanza was so damn poetic and happy. Then it goes further and wow! What a tragic story and I certainly did not see that coming. Especially after reading your author's note.

I really thought this was going to be something else and then you wow! Damn this is so damn sad. I really do not think people know what these women go through. There is a great tragedy in what could possibly make us these women who do this for a living. I do not believe any of them are happy and I think it's sad that a world like ours this "live and let live" world takes the word of these people who say "I am doing this because it's what a want to do" or whatever defense mechanism they come up with. It's sad what poverty, tragedy, broken mentality, and lack of self esteem will turn someone into.

Yet the saddest thing is when people do not concern themselves with it. When people just cast these women off as trash. Not understanding what small things in their lives might have been different to put them in such strains as well.

Really powerful write Michelle!

SUPERB!

Daniel
