Let Him Go

Contributed by juliette on Friday, 21st March 2003 @ 03:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

When you can’t have what you want to hold
You carry sordid secrets left untold
Walking around with permanent tears in sad eyes
As you watch your life is passing you by
For a word you couldn’t bear to hear, much less say
To a man who loved you in all the wrong ways
How can you need him still, though he brought you down so low
Girl you never seem to know when it is time to just let go.

So few times he allowed you sunlight
But you crawled alone through the darkest nights
And he let you believe this was more than you deserved
And after all the heartache you endured
It’s amazing you could have had so much more
But you still need him, even though he hurt you so
Girl when will you realize it is time to let him go.

I keep praying that you’ll see I love you so
Whenever you find it in your heart, to let him go.
