One Too Many Pictures.

Contributed by Jazzyfizzle on Thursday, 20th November 2008 @ 09:53:49 PM in AEST
Topic: self-harmpoetry

It all began in anger, and grew into something so much more
The monster created by obsession, conceled by long sleeves and bedroom doors
Prevented once by others, now avoiding her late night calls
Her now self destructive habbit encased by her once loving bedroom walls
Conceled behind lies of falling into bushes by mistake
Her friends feeding off her lies, secretly cause her heart to break
She sits on her floor lost in confusion, confidently embracing blade in hand
Acting on impulse, endulging in ingnorance...Obeying her bodys demand
Entrapted in her mind, reoccuring thoughts slowly turning her insane.
Masking defeat with indifferance, she feels no need to complain...
She carves to draw a picture, showing the world reflected through her eyes
These red marked lines wont always be so easily disgusied
Each line tells a different story, of when she's surrendered control
Still as enticing as the first time, this cultprit replacing the innocence it stole
A week of constant bickering, creates a portrait left unseen
A masterpice of battle scars and beauty marks make her picasso at just fourteen.
Her dependance on this drastic outlet, paves the way to this bloody masqurade
She cannot help but embrace the sombering essance of feeling lonely yet betrayed
One night she neglects her better judgement, slicing her way in hopes of releving the pain
Ignoring the many consequences of ripping through the bulging pulsating vein
She starts to bleed- it feels good, relief and depression sadly mixed
It was then she ultimately realized she had made a mistake that could not be fixed
Its too late her bodies dripping, Sprawled out on her bedroom floor.
She carved one too many pictures, soon she'll cease to exsist anymore.

It all began in anger... and so much more.

Pain like this is something that not everybody can understand, so matter how you talk about it. That being said, you've told quite a story with great imagery and expressive emotions.

I have 17 scars myself, so I see you, I get you. I get this. A brave write.

Be well,
Loende

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
