Towering up into the clouds, taunting me… most intimidating!
To go over is unfeasible
The heights would compromise the reason I seek the other side
Taking matters into my own hands is not wise
A definite last resort!
To go around is unreachable
I would walk around it and shout like Joshua at Jericho
But both ends reach to the horizon
An impressive journey indeed!
To go through is indomitable
For the builder and defender of the wall patiently battles me,
Each stone I remove, one is put in its place,
Or is it two? (Strengthen yourself, O my heart!)
To go under is impossible,
For in scratching the surface, I see its foundation
Blind stubbornness with the tenacity of iron,
My strength leaves me, ebbing away
A short distance away a lone tree beckons to me,
Shade for the weary, rest for the heart
I shall rest beneath its branches for a while
And once again make a heartfelt study
Of the wall
