When says she, a hug I can barely tolerate,
A hug given, to be returned by her I can not anticipate.
Affection and hugs with this girl I have tried to negotiate,
But to no avail, I am afraid we are at a stalemate.
Eleven months a sign of affection I did try to locate,
And when asked for such a sign she did vacillate.
Affection, and love to give was in me innate,
But she fended off requests for same and my heart did frustrate.
After seemingly forever, an “I love you” she did state,
What it cost her I cannot begin to calculate.
Eleven months it took for her this tidbit of love to locate,
But nothing since has come, my hearts sadness to mitigate.
What monsters they that this beautiful soul did cause to mutate,
Those that hurt, and damaged her so, I so very much hate.
To her no more I look for signs of affection that with love I equate,
For she is incapable, I think, this old man’s heart to inflate.
