The Taking

Contributed by Eireannach on Monday, 17th November 2008 @ 09:15:20 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Wind blows through the heather fair
and birds in sweetness sing
For they were there to see take
place a very awesome thing

A battlefield like ne’er was seen
no blade of grass was turned
No laying waste to city walls
it’s gates were left unburned

No sword of steel or club of stone
was seen to render there
The completeness of surrender
made the white flag fly the air

The path you trod to take my heart
was met with no resistance
No army needed at your call
when I saw your insistence

No battle cries or shouts of pain
were heard within this place
But loving words you whispered
close a smile upon your face

A full surrender has been made
so I reach forth my arms
I’m bound inside your cords of love
imprisoned by your charms

A captive I’ve been taken now
but that of my free will
The frantic longing of my soul
is now at peace and still

Make your realm within my heart
the deepest part of me
A willing prisoner of your love
and ever shall I be

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
