I welcome the darkness

Contributed by MANX on Friday, 21st March 2003 @ 12:05:00 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

So dark and twisted lay the shadows within,
So damp and so cold lay the blackness of sin,
The bars and the walls, so dingily placed
Like cobwebs of steel all wove interlaced.

But here am I now, a prisoner of war,
I’m fed bread and water, through a hole in the door,
And clothing so old, material so thin,
Like I’ve told you before, the blackness of sin.

My bones are now showing, my figure once proud,
And all my possessions, are this filthy wet shroud.
So welcome is death, my time nearly done,
My coming of age, nearly twenty one.

So what did I do, to deserve endless time,
My hideous sin, my hideous crime?
My help to the nation, so bold and so true,
But caught in a trap like that of a zoo.

So find me soon, oh angel of death,
And let this be my final breath,
Or angel of life, please find me soon,
Twenty feet down in a rat filled room

Life or death, either way be quick,
My visions impaired, I'm realy sick,
But war is created by mans twisted lie,
Of bloodshed and tears, why, oh why?

My thoughts are fading, my hope now gone
I'm leaving this earth as a wasted con
Goodbye says I, no more can I take,
I love you my darling, forgive me, forsake
