Run
By Jennifer Steinberg
Unsure of her surroundings
feeling so lost
she couldn't have stayed
afraid of the cost
running through the woods
running out of air
she thought she could escape it
those feelings quickly disappeared
she thought she saw him
watching from her side
she ran and ran
but he followed behind
she tripped and fell
falling to the ground
she saw her life flash before her
as she fell into hell

I love the darkness and the doom. It is as if the runner understands that she cannot escape. The end is the same, regardless of how far or fast she runs. Eventually she will fall - and she does. I love the internal rhyming emphasis in the last line. Very nice! |
