One In The Morning

Contributed by jesusofholland on Thursday, 13th November 2008 @ 10:25:25 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

It's one in the morning
The working man drinks
To forget all his problems
And cease all he thinks
His wife is a *****
And his son is a fool
But he labors each day
Though he feels like a tool
They're wholly ungrateful
For all that he's done
So he calls the bartender
And orders another one

It's one in the morning
The single mom cries
For her burden is heavy
From his blatant lies
He said he would be there
Then left right away
Now she's stuck with his child
Alone every day
Her anger, it owns her
While she lays and weeps
And her child who listens
Cries with her until she sleeps.

It's one in the morning
The boy is afraid
Cause he's fearful for school
Every single day
The other kids hate him
And make him feel ashamed
Cause he's skinny they beat him
And call him a fag
He wants left alone
They want to make him cry
So he swallows twelve sleep pills
And readies himself to die.

It's one in the morning
The writer debates
Against all injustice
In a world full of hates
The Murder and Raping
Racism and Greed
And Abuses of Power
It's all he perceives
He believed in the goodness
Of all humankind
But this world and man's evil
Has jaded his heart and mind.
