When Will It Stop?

Contributed by karoody on Thursday, 20th March 2003 @ 11:25:00 PM in AEST
Topic: political

Man on television says

Someone wants to blow up this land

Because someone blew up that land

Because...Because...

Why did they drop the bomb?

A sad mother lives in this land

She knows her children will cry

When they see their playground has been scorched.

A heart-broken bride lives on that land

She wonders how her gentle husband will feel

Now that he is being forced to kill.

I hear stories of wildfires

Where the people become so devastated

As they watch all they know and love go up in flames...

But then we throw bombs

Because someone decided 'manfires' are okay?

So someone wants to blow up this land

Because someone blew up that land

Because someone blew up those lands

Because someone blew up these lands

Because someone blew up our lands

Because someone blew up their lands

Because, Because, BECAUSE!

It never ends!

When will we finally see

That violence only brings misery?

KaraThe onlly indication that we have of our "Creator's" purpose for life on this planet is that we are designed to SURVIVE. And if by some catasttrophy we are erased (like the dinasaurs) some other form will emerge and take our place.

To survive we need to be as we are....... clever, ruthless, cooperative (when appropriate) agressive (when appropriate) etc. etc. always obeying the fundamental commandment SURVIVE.

That is why we fight and kill. that is why we invent religions to hold our tribe together so that it can outlive the other tribe.

The problem is we have overpopulated our space and there is not enough to go round
(I have written two or three poems on this as tou know)

You pose a very good question. This sounds like some sort of Native story. We can learn a lot from them natives.

Your friend,
Joel
