The Waltz

Contributed by Eireannach on Thursday, 13th November 2008 @ 11:22:35 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Eyes... the windows to the soul

Oh what I've seen when you've opened your windows to me
So much more than a fresh baked pie on the sill
Or potatoes on the boil

I've seen your soul perform a waltz
That would inspire Strauss himself
Yes, countless are the times
Our souls have danced together

Delight is my portion with each new dance
Anticipation rises as we follow new steps
Yet even our past dances don't grow old
Though carved into memory's stone

It matters not who leads and who follows
As long as the dance is accomplished
Without a word, we know as we are known
The slightest twinkle reveals passionate volumes

I am moved that even our separateness
Is closer than the oneness of others
So close that if my finger were pricked, the pain is also yours
If your heart breaks, mine joins in the breaking

Eyes... the windows to the soul
Oh, what I've seen when you've opened your windows to me
