Celestial Conversations

Topic: spiritual

Said the man to the sun,
My god, I am your son,
I am a child of unknown wild.
Said the man to the moon,
I will dance with you soon,
And sing your song all the night long.

Then the advent of the Divine,
And all mankind fell into line,
Caught between heaven and hell.
But also came intuition,
Not to mention invention,
So they prized the soul and the mind.

Said the man to the sun,
Oh Daystar, we are one,
We are both flawed and under God.
Said the man to the moon,
Oh lesser light, I swoon.
You look sublime whene'er you shine.

It was just a matter of time
Before the time was yours and mine,
We're caught between life and death,
In this search for purpose in life,
Measuring us under the knife,
And the prize, is a dream, is a lie.

Says the man to the sun,
How fast does your light run?
Can we follow you where you go?
Says the man to the moon,
I see tides are in tune,
With your phases, with your faces.

Someday there may well come a time
When it will be proved not a line,
We will be caught between cycles.
So time will not reverse as such,
But we will be deprived of much,
And from all the earth in that day,

Says the man to the sun,
My short life is now done,
May sunshine gold carry my soul.
Says the man to the moon,
Even now, just as noon,
Light I'm under forces wonder.

Has a very surrealist feel to it. Like a ballad of doom. But I like the conversations with the Sun & Moon and how it changes over time. Its almost like the the evolution of Man's understanding of a higher power, a cosmic law, Universal, transcendent.

I like this:

Says the man to the sun,
How fast does your light run?
Can we follow you where you go?

Good stuff, keep going.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
