A Spell On Me

Startled in the night
Nothing was right
An eerie feeling down my spine
I heard a name but not mine
A whisper soft, not like yours
Then a creaking of the doors
Footsteps softly in the house
Nothing stirred, not even a mouse
A cold shiver shook my bed
Severe pressure on my head
Ice formed on my nose
The blanket uncovered my toes
The sound of breathing very terse
I made a sound without verse
A choke swelled in my throat
Then a movement of my coat
The silent hang began to sway
The sound of words coloured in grey
Transfixed, frozen and scared
To my death if I dared
Finally the sun broke the spell
Left with the night to dwell
Naked the room askew
Covered in morning dew
