I am the downtrotted who have been trampled on and left behind
only to be forgotten and shoved aside
I am the warrior who was spit on in his face upon returning home
from a war he never wished to fight and now is hated for
being forced to kill or die
I am the lover who sits home alone at night thinking about the other
who left without saying a word or an "i love you" ripping away all they built togeather
only to sit and watch it burn
I am the father who never gets to see his children
because of a selfish mother and a biast legal system
that left a black hole in his heart and his whole world
I am the rebel who wonders a lost highway
unable to find his way back home because he is too stubborn
to open his eyes or give a little for the greater good
but wont back down from those who try and change his views and beliefs
I am the prisoner released from hell standin out in the rain
who seeks redemption and vindication but its so far out of reach
because he is forever a marked man
I am the abused child who hides bruises from the world around them
to protect whats left of their pride and the abuser only for fear of more abuse
I am the poet who has been cast aside and is no longer tolerated
by society and others so i sit and write hoping to reach out and touch someone
just like me someone who is what
i am
or ever has been what
i am
but i am not the reedemer or savior just the holder of the torch
that provides the guiding lite to all the things that we have ever seeked but never found
