I bear a cross strapped to my back
I wear a band colored in black
I have carried the cross from day one
And the band represents the wrong ive done
The people around me know where i stand
Power to the people ***** the man
Selfrichous hypocrits point many fingers at me
It's only the band of black that they see
I've paid my social debts but they just dont care
They still choose to ignore this cross that i bear
I have never stood behind thing cruel nor cold
Still they tell me im wrong bad and bold
I have treated most others with honest intentions
Still i am awaiting any honorable mentions
Like my father before me i stand for whats right
So like i beast in a corner push me and i may bite
I stand for the weary who wear a constant frown
And i pick up the battered who have been beaten down
You don't have to like me if you dont ill feel no loss
Ill still be standing proud with my band and my cross

It's sad that almost everyone is blind and only see what they want to see but it happens all around us
Like you say you should be affected by what people think
great poem one of my favorite by you
keep writing

I like what you have conveyed here, as far as helping others,
and taking a stand for what's right. But might I suggest that
you lay down your cross and follow the one who vacated His.
The empty cross speaks more loudly than the picture of suffering.
It's not about religion. It's about a relationship. Keep on writing.
Hope to see more of your works on this site.
Blessings,
Robert Edgar "Lawdog" Burns |
