|
Come dance with me ‘neath moonlight
On this night there are no dreams
For tonight the veil is thinnest
And all’s not as it seems
Come light the hills of Tara
And walk between the fires
To purify the ancient soul
On the night when no one tires
Set an extra place for dinner
To feed the hungry dead
This night only can they eat
So do ensure they’re fed
On the night of ancient samhain
From which Halloween descends
We greet the dead at sunset
From this life to their ends

| The night when the veil between the living and dead is at its thinnest. The time for telling fortunes and weaving spells. I can tell you've done your homework on this poem. Not many could tell you the ancient Samhain traditions or even know what Samhain is these days. I love this poem. It reminds me that I need to pay more attention to my traditions and it gets me in the spirit. It's been difficult to get into the spirit this year. I've yet to figure out how I'm going to do my fire this year since I don't even have a grill outside here. Anyways thanks for writing this. I really enjoyed it. truly , Doug |
