Hearth

Topic: anguished

I’ve broken your heart and so much more
Always saddened as you walk out the door
I disappoint you and always will fail
One smile from you will fill my heart like a sail
I try too hard, so hard just to please
It makes me lose sight, of those purposeful deeds
But still I’ll try, and perhaps get it right
And maybe you’ll dream of me some wonderful night
There is another out there that will make you contented
My longing I assure you, is no longer dissented
The only gift that I can give you and bear
To find what you want, for us to despair
If only it were me, that you were searching for
There’d be no greater love that I could ever implore
You’re a special girl and was always my dream
But now I’m awake, victim to fate’s scheme
When I look in at you while you are asleep
Realizing what is lost, brings me to weep
Out in the cold you’ll find what you desire
While I sit at our hearth by our dying fire
