I been down that road before

Contributed by outlawpoet on Monday, 27th October 2008 @ 04:42:21 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Sometimes it's hard when life gets tough
People take and they take but never leave enough
Your Daddy is gone he passed away
You Can't find a lover that's willing to stay
Your body has changed and you're gettin older
Your heart is faded and your blood runs colder
The sky is gray and the sun won't shine
It's been so long since things have been fine
Loneliness rips through your soul you're a fugitive on the run
And it's hard to be around yourself with all that you've done

I know you have seen better days
and you feel shameful and sore
I know what it's like to be hurting this way
Cause i've been down that road before

So bury what's left of your selfish pride
Let vindication shine from deep inside
Walk today with your head up high

It's a beautiful thing to feel shame no more
Trust me friend
Cause I've been down that road before

Yep been down that road, still on part of it at times.
You captured such emotion and wisdom in these lines. You are a talented writer my friend.

I agree with Lily too, nobody can capture us and keep us locked away and down unless we let them.
There is a will and a condition that keeps us pushing forward.

Hugs and thanks for the positive reflection in this write.

Super big hugs and a kiss on the cheek for ya

Michelle
