I wished that you woke me to say goodbye
Despite where we are, and how I make you cry
Back to where I can do the most good
The Great Sadness over me throws its hood
Away from you, it seems, is where I belong,
A distant dream, avoiding love’s prong
I’ve tried to forget you and forgive my own sins
Immolated in what was, my torment begins
And though I’ve forgiven, both you and me
My apologies mean nothing until you are free
Though it is best that I leave you alone
I still hope that one day, that I can come home

ahhhhh this just rips at the heart. It is hard but even harder I think that you are so far away again. Time may help??

Steve, this is one of the most heart breaking pieces I've read in a while. Knowing
where your heart lies, gives this an extreme pain to it, that other "lost love" poems
can barely touch. I feel for you, my friend. And I pray and hope for your immediate
release of this ache. It is agonizing that you must endure this. Thank you for sharing
and keep your spirits as high as you possibly can. Your last line breathes with a light
that is beautiful.
