The Pigeon Who Flew Once

The Pigeon Who Flew Once
A B Rasul

"You are a pigeon!
You are a pigeon!"
This is what mom told me.

"You are a pigeon!
You must learn to fly."
This is what dad tried to teach me.

"But if you can/'/t fly,
Together, we can never touch the sky."
This is what the love of my life told me.

"You are a pigeon, and can/'/t fly!
It would be much better for you to die."
This is what everyone told me.

It/'/s time for the pigeons to fly south.
The cold/'/s coming, the loneliness behind.

Mom and dad look at me in the eyes and cry.
They want to tell me good bye;

Because I am a pigeon, and can/'/t fly;
But they/'/re pigeons, and should be in the sky.

I cry and say self-deceivingly "there/'/s no wrong
With a pigeon in the forest, alone, where there/'/s no one."

Dad starts to fly and mom can/'/t leave me so easy.
But it/'/s just a matter of time and she/'/s ready.

My love says "I must leave I am sorry.
It/'/s love and life, it/'/s not easy"

The others come to worsen my misery.
A creature/'/s prey, if not, the rain drowns me.

A pigeon who had never flown;
Now is here left behind, all alone.

Seeing them flying so wonderfully;
Dancing with the sky so elegantly;

The breeze impinging their wings;
Make a melodious tune that sings;

"Come away, come away, and try once more.
If not, live the dream no more."

I spread my wings and run fast.
The vast green land and trees passed.

In a moment I was swimming in the sky.
"At last, I made it. I can flyyyyyyyyyy!"

"What is happening? – I am falling down!"
My heart beat suddenly slowed down.

"The day has now become dark"
In my eyes there was no spark.

"There/'/s something sharp in my heart."
My whole body was cold except my heart.

Alas, I was shot.
Fell down to their original spot.

I am dying! The pigeon who couldn/'/t fly,
But floated once in the sky.

Then, I and my happiness drowned in the earth by Man;
Who consider themselves blessed by Divine!

Brrrrrrrrrrrravo, well done, I guess the only reason made him fly was the speech of the lover not others....love makes one trying to do the impossible...
