A Winter of Discontent

I were it winter in a life of discontent
where voices pass as the snow soft and quite
adrift with the wind in shadows of gray
falling in desperation amid the sounds of life
oh heart of mine that I could find you
amide this blanket of white
frozen your secrets hide in this cover of silence
hidden from view your perfect drapery covers
a melody played out in a winter of discontent
its melancholy grip has quenched your soul
where words once burned with summers passion
deafening silence has wrapped them soft and worn
that it must be in this season of quite
for all you once were lies lost to this desert of white
in a winter of discontent
