i started to write you a poem
but didn't know what to say
i started to sing you a love song
but my pride got in the way
i started to tell you i'm sorry
for the hurtful things i've said
i started to tell you i love you
but went to bed instead
why do we play this dreadful game
of battles that shouldn't be fought
why do we drive each other insane
with this bonded life we've bought
i do write you poetry i do sing you songs
i do say i'm sorry and i've loved you for so long
so today i start a new day
and hope you'll be there too
today i plan on trying
to cherish me and you...
