Unrequited Love

You can't lose what you never had
Though I knew that wasn't true
When I lost you
You were always there,
The best friend anyone could ever have
Comfort, love, and your laughter
Was always the best medicine
A smile to push the blackest
Clouds away
A hug to melt the Arctic's ice
I fell in love with you
Mind, body, and soul
But, love unrequited is the
Most painful of all
So, forever friends until the end
Hoping a kiss lies around the next turn
Knowing there is no hope...
Someday, at some point... I guess
I will have to move on
Until then, forgive my sadness
My tear stained script,
And know that if that love
You ever wish to return
It may be too late
And I would have already
Gone.
