Across a path of pleated grass
Laid down by stomping feet
Above an infinity of flowers
Dancing in a graceful ballet
Weighed down by screaming heartache
Cemented into fate
Crouched upon a mossy stoop
Sat a marbled timid statue
With thickened hands
And calloused strength
With anxiousness in heart
And bravery in mind
Sharp misery wearing on the bones
Love had been all but scrimpy
Came to rest upon the stoop
This shy and hesitant man
The tears began to plummet
The fears began to climb
The broadness of the shoulders
Met the coldness of the stone
The large brazened hands
Reached up to hardened face
And in this precious moment
It turned to you and me
Overcome with love and beauty
Distraught we are no more
Pushed forth by fate
And alive by will
There was the day
We walked the aisle
And with that golden band
You finally gave me a title

| this poem is truly great... reminds me of my husband and i and when we were finally married... that was exactly how i felt... i'm finding the more that i read here at YPDC, the more i have in common with those who are here as well... excellent read... blessings.. |
