Hugs 4.0

Hugs 4.0

From the beauty of dreams in warm embrace
first we begin by looking in each others face,
approach is signaled by wink, cheek or nod.

From the shoulder tops, hips far apart,
or ribs to belly, neck to crook
the deepest lasting ones entwine and press,
pushing pass squeeze and stretch,
into the heart of partners warming soul.

From the Old Norse 'hugga'
perhaps on a cold night
to band and fight
against penetrable winters edge
or solid remain till gravity and time take its toll.
A Hug is a tool of survival.

From solution make cement!
The waters of love blend,
the glinting sands of memory,
with just embrace to congratulate
each in grave Plato's grasp,
for little more than a minute per day
as it may be true in some distant future
the very last of us against flame or ice,
will hold each other so tight.

I like where you words take me in this one. So often we take certain things for granted....like a simple hug.

AJ, I am pleased. SO pleased to see this post. Like Michelle, I have missed your
poetry AND your insight. I believe it was your first version of "HUGS" that
introduced us. *sigh* That was a while ago, eh? lol And this one is just as incredible
as the first. I won't ramble about hugs this time, but I do want to say that the picture
you selected makes my point for me. Hugs are eternal and they do for people what
words cannot. We NEED the contact. I fear we would die without it.

Exceptional post, my friend. Stick around a bit, will ya? :D

oh, and *HUGSSSSSSSSSSSSS*

although we are both missing in action these days I pop in to see any new work from fellow poets..what a wonderful surprise to read your words..it was a definite tribute to an action I practice daily. Yet never having the words to define such a simple , powerful act we should all practice. So much more significant to a mere handshake.
Brilliant piece as always my friend. Thanks

A Hug is a tool of survival.

Indeed! An effective hug is 20 seconds or more. I am really happy to have stumbled upon this lovely write! Human touch is not only vital to our health, but it also helps to keep apathy at bay. We thrive on touch and compassion, and you have expressed that well. Have you ever watched the movie "Crash?" (The one by director Paul Haggis). It is a very stirring tale of the same premise. I highly recommend watching it, if you haven't already.

Cheers:) Hope to see you posting again soon !
